Curtis Announces She Will Seek Election to Kirkland City Council Position #2

Kirkland City Councilmember Kelli Curtis announced today that she will seek election to Council Position #2 this fall.

On February 19, Curtis was appointed to fill the council vacancy left by former Mayor Amy Walen who was recently elected to serve in the Washington State House of Representatives. Curtis said she is grateful for the opportunity to serve. “I want to express my deep thanks to my fellow council members for the faith and trust they indicated by appointing me to serve on the City Council,” said Councilmember Curtis. She continues, “Kirkland is a beautiful jewel of a city with fantastic parks, great amenities, and wonderful engaged neighborhoods. As an experienced leader, I want to continue the work I’m doing on behalf of our community,”

Curtis is thoughtful about our city’s growth and livability, wants to expand our recreational spaces and preserve our green spaces, and believes this community should welcome for everyone. Fellow Councilmember Tom Neir says about Curtis, “Kelli has the energy, experience and vision that are essential in a Councilmember. I know she will be a very effective leader for our community.”
As a councilmember, Curtis serves on the Kirkland Planning and Economic Development Committee and the Legislative Work Group. Before joining the council, Kelli served on the Houghton Community Council, as Vice Chair of the Kirkland Park Board, and was a member of the Housing Strategy Advisory Group.
